The Wesley-Ciskei Wind Farm project involved the engineering, procurement, and construction of civil balance of plant works for a 34.5MW facility consisting of 10 wind turbine generators. Valued at R109 million and completed between August 2019 and December 2020, the contract scope included the design and construction of turbine foundations (three types, up to 21.5m diameter and 24m deep), crane hardstands, internal and external access roads, and drainage systems.
Works further encompassed the establishment of temporary and permanent laydown areas, as well as landscaping and rehabilitation of disturbed areas. Construction quantities included 48,912m³ of earthworks, 5,987m³ of reinforced concrete, 630 tons of steel reinforcement, and over 12,000m of roadworks. The project delivered a robust civil infrastructure platform enabling efficient erection and long-term operation of wind turbine generators in the Eastern Cape.
