Board Of Directors.

The Board of Directors have all worked through the ranks at H&I Engineering and boast a combined employment tenure of 51 years in the business. 

Mr. Gerardo Cirillo

CEO - Pr. Eng. Pr.CM MSc. Eng. (Civil) MSAICE

Gerardo graduated from the University of Stellenbosch with a BSc. Eng. (Civil) degree in 2001 and an MSc. Eng. (Civil) degree in 2003. After completing his MSc. Eng. dissertation (Cirillo 2003) in the Netherlands in collaboration with the Technical University of Delft, he joined Grinaker-LTA (A subsidiary of Aveng Group Limited) as a Site Engineer in 2004. In 2006 Gerardo joined Road Mac Surfacing Cape (Pty) Ltd (A subsidiary of the Raubex Group Limited) as a Site Agent. In 2012 Gerardo joined H&I Engineering as a Contracts Manager after which he was appointed to the Executive Board in June 2019 and as the CEO in December 2020.

Mr. Andrew Gibbard

Executive Director - Pr.CM N.D. (Civil) Eng. MSAICE

Andrew graduated from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology with a national diploma in Civil Engineering, N.D Civil Eng. in 1997. Andrew worked for WBHO as a student, in service training, between 1990 and 1996. Andrew joined H&I Engineering as a Site Agent in 1996 after which he was appointed as a Contracts Manager in 2006 and to the Executive Board in January 2011. 

Ms. Chrystal Poole

Executive Director - BA. Soc Sci

Chrystal graduated from the University of Cape Town with a BA. Soc Sci degree in Public Affairs and Administration in 1995 and from Varsity College with a national diploma in Human Resource Management and Training in 2003. Prior to joining H&I Engineering, Chrystal worked as an HR Administrator for Triton Express and Platinum Holders. Chrystal joined H&I Engineering in 2004 after which she was appointed as an HR Manager in 2006 and to the Executive Board in 2008. In 2014 Chrystal was the winner of the Young Business Person of the Year Award run by the National Business Awards and the Sunday Times and in 2016 Chrystal completed the International Executive Management Programme through Warwick University of London.

Company Secretary

Mr. Quintin Oosthuizen

Company Secretary - CA (SA) B. Acc. (Honours)

Quintin graduated from the University of Stellenbosch with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting in 2011 and with a B. Acc. (Honours) degree in 2012. Quintin worked as an audit clerk for PFK Auditing between 2013 and 2015 after which he registered as a Chartered Accountant with SAICA (Membership no. 30656170). In 2016 Quintin worked as a Financial Manager for Oasis Fund Managers. After a short stint with Parity Software as a consultant implementing accounting ERP software, Quintin joined H&I Engineering as the Financial Manager in August 2017 after which he was appointed as the Company Secretary in August 2018.

Mr. Q Oosthuizen

Transformation.

H&I Engineering established the H&I Broad-Based Employee Trust (HIBBET) in 2006 and effectively sold a portion of its business to HIBBET at par value. Today every permanent employee in H&I Engineering, H&I Construction and H&I Plant & Crushing with more than two years’ service enjoy an equity stake in the business as beneficiaries of HIBBET. 

Today HIBBET is the largest individual shareholder in H&I Engineering at 24,19% and H&I Engineering are 32.7% Black Owned.

H&I Engineering is an Employee-owned engineering company. INNOVATION and our EMPLOYEES are at the heart of our DNA .  The Equity in H&I Engineering is held by three shareholder groups.

Whistle Blowing.

H&I Engineering is committed to high standards of ethical, moral and legal business conduct. In line with such commitment and our commitment to open communication we aim to provide an avenue for employees, subcontractors, suppliers and members of the public to raise concerns of irregularities regarding, but not limited to, human rights violations, unethical conduct and corruption without fear of reprisals or victimization for whistle blowing.
