The Potsdam Wastewater Treatment Works project represents a flagship municipal infrastructure undertaking aimed at securing long-term wastewater management capacity for one of the fastest-growing regions in the Western Cape. Valued at R1.185 billion and running from April 2023 to November 2027, the project encompasses extensive civil, mechanical, electrical, and control systems works.
It includes 120,000m³ of earthworks, 45,000m³ of reinforced concrete, major rehabilitation of existing assets, and the construction of new process tanks and structures. Advanced process equipment such as pumps, mixers, aerators, clarifiers, and sludge-handling systems will be fully integrated with MCCs, standby generation, and a SCADA-driven automation platform, ensuring compliance, resilience, and operational efficiency.
