This slope stabilisation project was executed to prevent large-scale embankment failure along a critical section of the N2 near Groot Brak. Undertaken as an H&I and TS Joint Venture between April 2022 and July 2023, the R259 million contract involved installing 568 ODEX piles (ranging 10m–18m in depth, totalling over 8,100m).
Each pile was reinforced with high-yield steel cages, I-beam sections, and Class D 40MPa concrete, then joined by robust capping beams designed to act as movement indicators over time. Additional works included the installation of 360m of landslide fencing using the 750kJ Maccefferi System, extensive backfilling, access platforms, and rehabilitation of the embankment for hydro seeding. This project significantly improved slope stability and roadway safety along a strategic national transport corridor.
