The project in the Port of Gqeberha was aimed at growing and improving Transnet’s ability to service boats weighing less than 1200 metric tons. 

The project entailed the construction of a new modern slipway for the purpose of lifting boats, up to 40 tons, out of the water for repairs and/or services.

The project also entailed the demolition of the two old lead-in jetties and their replacement with new jetties that were constructed using a walk-out piling platform for the installation of 138 No piles whereafter 406 meters of concrete decking was constructed in-situ.
