The project entailed the construction of a new combi-piled quay structure as well as the extensive rehabilitation of the severely voided fill material behind the old quay wall.

The new combi-piled quay wall structure was constructed 1.1m in front of the existing quay wall and was extended for a length of 100m. The quay wall is comprised of steel tubular piles constructed at 2.5m centers with Z-shaped sheet piles in between. The entire quay wall structure was tied back to the bedrock with inclined ground anchors.

The quay wall was finished off with a reinforced concrete capping constructed over the steel tubular piles and the gap between the new and the old quay wall was backfilled with commercial crushed stone.
