This R69 million contract, undertaken between October 2020 and January 2023, involved the upgrade and extension of the Moorreesburg Wastewater Treatment Works to 2 Mℓ/day, as well as the upgrading of sludge dewatering facilities at the Darling WWTW. The works were divided into three portions: Portion A focused on the Darling WWTW, adding an aerobic digester, dewatering building, and interconnecting pipework.

Portion B covered new infrastructure at Moorreesburg, including an admin/control building with laboratory and MCC room, blower and generator buildings, and several water-retaining structures such as a 2,200m³ biological reactor, two 13m diameter clarifiers, digester, chlorine contact tank, and associated pumping stations. Portion C entailed the decommissioning and demolition of redundant infrastructure, including the old inlet works, clarigester, Orbal ditch reactor, and drying beds. The project modernised and expanded wastewater treatment capacity for the region, ensuring compliance and improved operational efficiency.
