Kestrel 400/132kV Main Transmission Station was awarded by Mulilo / TotalEnergies, with no external consultant appointed. This greenfield project comprises the construction of a dual-voltage 400/132kV air-insulated substation to connect the De Aar 2 South Wind Energy Facility and Paarde Valley PV into the national grid under a private PPA.
The works include the establishment of fully equipped 400kV and 132kV outdoor yards, an integrated earth grid, and the construction of all substation buildings, control systems, and security infrastructure. Additional scope entails the installation of loop-in/loop-out and transposition towers, replacement of overhead earth wire with OPGW, and comprehensive oil handling and environmental protection facilities. Valued at R878 million and scheduled for completion between November 2024 and May 2026, this contract underscores H&I Construction’s capability in delivering large-scale, technically complex power infrastructure.
